For the crushing of ore, it is mainly by means of mechanical force at present, and there are five most common crushing methods.

1) Crushed

It uses the pressure generated when the two working faces are gradually approaching the ore to crush the ore. The characteristic of this method is that the force gradually increases, and the force has a larger range of action.

2) chopped

It uses the splitting force of the sharp teeth to wedge into the ore to crush the ore. Its characteristic is that the range of force is relatively concentrated and local rupture occurs.

3) break off

When the ore is crushed, due to the bending force concentrated by the relative force in the direction, the ore is broken and broken. The characteristic of this method is that in addition to the splitting force at the point where the external force acts, it is also subjected to the bending force, so it is easy to pulverize the ore.

4) Grinding and peeling

It uses the working face to move relatively on the surface of the ore, thereby generating a shearing force on the ore, which acts on the surface of the grinding stone, so it is suitable for grinding fine-grained materials.

5) Shock

It is to use the instantaneous impact force to act on the ore. Due to the high impact speed, the deformation has no time to expand to the whole of the impacted object, and there is a large local stress at the impact. The impact has the most damaging effect on the ore, so the crushing effect is the best. Because the force acts on the ore instantaneously, the impact is also called power crushing. The typical application of impact crushing is vertical shaft impact crushing, which is widely used in ore shaping and sand making.

In summary, the lithium ore crushing process is mainly divided into:

1) Spodumene: According to the hard rock crushing process, the crushed finished product is generally 5-40mm. According to different design requirements of customers, two-end or three-stage crushing is designed. The high-grade crushed product (above 4-5%) can be directly put into the metallurgical process for production Lithium carbonate or lithium hydroxide, the particle size of the finished product is generally around 20-40mm; low-grade generally needs ball mill grinding and separation, and the particle size of the finished product is generally around 5-20mm;

2) Lepidolite: From the perspective of hardness, it belongs to soft rock, and the small output can be considered to be processed according to the soft rock crushing process; but the follow-up needs to enter the metallurgical process, and the customer will also require cone crusher to be considered according to the hard rock crushing process from the perspective of stable operation; The crushed products generally have a finer particle size. It is also the main raw material for the production of lithium carbonate and lithium hydroxide.
